Onward Israel is a highly subsidized 8-week professional internship program that allows Jewish college students to live in Israel’s most exciting cities, have a fantastic internship in a field of their interest, gain professional training and development, and explore a new country and culture.

Develop your professional future and build your resume through a high-level internship side by side with Israeli peers. This internship program, places you in a work place based on your skills, interests and future plans. In addition, each week features a visit to an entrepreneurial and innovative Israeli company, expressing Israel’s creative, start-up energy.

Onward Toronto

Program Summary

You’ve had a taste of Israel,what the country and people are all about and now you’re ready for more. Onward Israel is a highly subsidized 6-8 week professional internship program that allows university students and young professionals to live in Israel, work as an intern in a field of their interest and gain professional training and development. Onward Israel Toronto is a unique program that provides the structure as well as the freedom to mold one’s own Israel experience. In addition to their internship (4 to 5 days a week) Onward Israel also facilitates cultural evening events, educational speakers and tiyulim. Participants live in apartments in Tel Aviv.

This Onward Israel program is operated through a partnership between the Beacon and Shapira Foundations and other leading philanthropists. It is organized by Israel Experience.

Acceptance Criteria
This program is open to young adults from Toronto between 19-26 years old who have NOT spent 3 or more months in Israel as part of an educational or peer-program (this includes semester abroad, gap year or any other MASA or Onward Israel program). Applications will open at the end of October and will be accepted on a rolling basis. Applicants must be fluent in English.

Previous participation in Taglit-Birthright Israel is encouraged for any eligible applicant.

Accommodations
Apartments or dorm-style housing in the Tel Aviv area.

This program is open to current college students who either are from Illinois, or attend school in Illinois or at any of the following universities:

Previous participation in Taglit- Birthright Israel is encouraged for eligible applicants.

Cost

Cost includes generous food stipend, lodging, insurance, local transportation and program costs.The actual cost of the Onward Israel program is much higher, and is subsidized up to 70% by Onward Israel, private donors, and local Jewish communities and institutions.Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights.  Participants will be required to submit a $150 credit card authorization as a participation and security deposit upon arrival in Israel.Rolling admissions through March 15, 2018 or earlier if the program is full.This Onward Israel program is operated through a partnership between the Beacon and Shapira Foundations and other leading philanthropists, Masa Israel Journey, The Jewish Agency for Israel and Combined Jewish Philanthropies of Greater Boston and is organized by Israel Experience.

Accommodations

The Boston Onward Israel program has cohorts in three Israeli cities: Jerusalem, Haifa, and Tel Aviv. We do our best to place you in the city you have applied for, but please note that based on rolling admissions and internship placement preferences, it may be necessary to be placed in one of the other cities.Haifa participants live in the heart of Haifa’s refurbished and bustling port area, side by side with young Jews from around the world and Israeli students.The number of participants to an apartment or room is dependent on the size of the accommodations and number of participants on the program.  While meeting common standards, Onward Israel housing differs by program and even within a program. Acceptance Criteria

Open to students attending a New England college or university, or who grew up in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, with preference given to underclassmen. Ideally for students who have had one previous short-term Israel experience – such as Birthright Israel or a teen travel program

Masa-eligible participants in programs which are part of the Onward/Masa partnership may qualify for additional scholarships. For more information, call Onward Israel or your local partner professional.

Participants on Onward Israel programs that are run in partnership with Masa may return to Israel on long-term Masa programs after Onward Israel. They may also be eligible for additional scholarships from Masa to help fund their participation, although the size of that scholarship may be influenced by prior participation on Onward Israel. Onward Cleveland

Program Summary

WORK as an intern in the arts, business, finance, communication, nonprofit, high-tech, and more

Cleveland Onward Israel is designed for an applicant that:

  • Has been to Israel at list once in the past
  • Is between the ages 20-25. Juniors and seniors in college and beyond
  • Is originally from Cleveland or currently attending a school in Cleveland
